Cut and run is nothing new with the democrat politicians. Another democrat that was a cut and runner was Kansas Governor John Carlin. He ran on the promise that he would sign into law a death penalty bill. When the bill was passed and sent to his desk he proudly vetoed the bill with clergy standing on either side of him. I know because I was there covering the story. The first and only democrat I ever voted for was Jim Slattery. He ran on the premise that he would never vote for any legislation that would restrict the sale of firearms. He was a life time member of the NRA (National Rifle Association) so he said so in his ads. Then in 1993 came the Brady Bill. Before the vote for the bill I had called his office in Washington D.C. the person who answered the phone took my information and wrote down that I was against the Brady Bill. I asked if I could call him back and check on the vote and told me I could. So the afternoon before the vote I called and asked to talk to him (the person who took my original call) and he told me that the totals looked like about 9 to 1 for the congressman to vote against the bill. So when he (Jim Slattery) voted for the Brady Bill I was totally shocked. I called Slattery’s office and asked to talk to the same young man that I spoke with before. When he got online with me I asked what happened. He said that Congressman Slattery thought that it was an NRA play to sway his vote and he said that he had to vote his conscience. I told him that I will be voting my conscience when I vote Slattery out of office. To this day I still feel betrayed because I cast my vote for someone who I thought held the same ideals. I think what happened was that his fellow democrats twisted his arm to follow the party line and vote for the bill. I may never know. I have been watching all politicians both republican and democrats for a long time say one thing then do something else. It is now looking like those on the left will be feeling the same pinch of the Democratic Party that I felt over the last 40 years. I watch Hillary now try to move to the right. Is there any way to tell how they will govern when they get in power? I don’t think so. I will not throw away my vote to see.
I for one would like to see justice dealt to those who were involved with the crimes committed by the Clinton administration. It would please me no end for the George W. Bush push for an investigation of Bill Clinton and his ilk. A lot of people died that didn’t have to during the Clinton administration. The military and those in law enforcement suffered a loss of respect and reputation under the command of Bill Clinton. Now contrast that with our troops I have always supported our troops no matter who is the Commander and Chief. The whole point I am trying to make here is that our country is at war. We face an enemy that doesn’t want to conquer us they want to kill us, all of us. So it is for that reason we cannot elect those who would cut and run from doing the right thing. We should stay the course in Iraq and not leave until the threat is defeated and that region is safe and free. We as citizens of the United States should support our troops and their Commander and Chief President George W. Bush. Doing the right thing is not the misuse of power it is the exercise of power, the power to protect the innocent and attack those who would do us harm. So it is that reason that I will never vote for a democrat or for anyone who advocate the cut and run notion. Sincerely, Jim Gibb |
